Ibu has been cracking her head to keep us busy during the holidays. She saw an activity on her pinterest and got us to do it. I am sure you have heard of the volcano experiment, right? But we did mini volcano eruptions instead using a baking tray, baking soda, and vinegar. Oh yes, and a dropper. Just fill the tray with lots and lots of baking soda, and you're done. Drop a little vinegar on the baking soda and see what happens. Awesome, I tell you!!!
Do you know why this happens??
The bubbles that are created are filled with carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is a gas that forms when the vinegar (an acid) reacts with the baking soda (a base). For all you bakers out there, this is also what makes cakes and quick breads (the no yeast kind) get all nice and fluffy.
